Trencher's Diary
Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2, 2026
Who this policy applies to
This policy explains how Trencher's Diary ("we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Trencher's Diary website and Chrome extension.
The extension is designed for trade journaling workflows. We only collect data that is necessary to provide the extension's core functionality, and we do not sell personal data.
Data we collect
- Account data — email, authentication token, user ID, selected wallet ID, and selected wallet address used for sign-in and account session management.
- Journal data — notes you type in extension prompts (for example buy reason, sell reason, and trade conclusion).
- Trading context data — wallet-related trade signals, token mint, token symbol, trade amount values, timestamps, and transaction signatures needed to show journaling prompts and sync trade journal entries.
- Local extension state — connection status and extension runtime state stored in Chrome storage / IndexedDB to keep the extension working reliably.
How we use data
We use collected data only to provide and operate product features:
- authenticate users and maintain secure sessions;
- display buy/sell journal prompts and save journal entries;
- sync journal data with our backend API;
- keep extension connections alive and handle reliability/retry logic;
- detect abuse, prevent fraud, and resolve technical errors.
Chrome permissions and why they are requested
- storage — store extension state (for example connection/session status) on your device.
- alarms — run scheduled background tasks such as reconnect/sync.
- tabs — deliver journaling UI in browser tabs and open product pages when the user chooses to do so.
- host permissions — communicate with configured Trencher's Diary API hosts required for sign-in and journal synchronization.
Website and page access
The extension can run on web pages to render journaling popups and receive session messages from our login flow. This access is used only for extension features described in this policy.
The extension does not use remotely hosted executable code. Extension logic runs from packaged extension files.
Sharing and third parties
We may share data with infrastructure and security service providers that process data on our behalf to run the product (for example hosting, API delivery, and abuse prevention tools). We may also disclose data when required by law.
We do not sell personal data.
Data retention
We retain data only as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Local extension data remains on your device until removed by extension actions, extension reset, or extension uninstall.
Security and transmission
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards for stored and transmitted data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect user information in transit and at rest.
User controls and choices
You can uninstall the extension at any time via Chrome's extension settings. You can also request access, correction, or deletion of account-related data by contacting us.
Prominent disclosure and consent
If we introduce data processing that is not obvious from the extension's core functionality, we will provide a clear in-product disclosure and request user consent before collecting that data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
